From 6 April 2014, the following key changes will come into force:
- Tier 2 intra-company and general applications will be eligible to be granted leave for up to 5 years at a time, as opposed to the current 3, on payment of a higher fee.
- Minimum salary levels, and requirements for maintenance funds will rise in line with inflation for Tier 2 applicants.
- Tier 2 and Tier 5 migrants whose employment is transferred under TUPE will have greater protection, with the definition of ‘working for the same employer’ being widened.
