We were really privileged to have Greg Dyke, Chairman of The FA and David Taylor author of the world‘s fastest selling business book, The Naked Leader speaking at this year’s Springhouse Employment Briefing.

Our session commenced with a short talk from Ben Power, Managing Partner, who looked at managing people with a lawyers’ hat on, making the point that while managers can be too soft-hearted at the start of an employment relationship, they tend to be too hard-hearted at the end.

We continued with an animated and enthusiastic David Taylor who encouraged managers not be discouraged by rejection and that getting up and trying again is something they should embrace, not fear.

Greg spoke with passion and energy of a career that has made him one of the country’s best known and best loved managers. He explained how, during turbulent times when he was Director General of the BBC, he managed to win the hearts of thousands of potentially difficult employees by seeing things from their point of view and simply being himself.

The session ended with questions from our guests, one about regrets.  Greg’s biggest regret was possibly not having the opportunity to spend a few years longer at the BBC to embed the changes he had started to put in place.  For David it was perhaps the sacking of 5 Managers whilst he was Chairman of the Woking Football Club!

We look forward to inviting you to the Springhouse Employment Briefing 2016.
